Become a Rescue Jet Board Operator Instructor
For selected existing instructor/trainer water rescue and lifeguard personnel, who wish to fulfil the role as an ASAP Water Rescue Jet Board Operator instructor. The course builds on the ASAP Water Rescue Jet Board Craft operator course and develops the skills required of existing appropriate instructors to effectively and safely teach water/flood rescue responders and lifeguards to meet the requirements of the operator standard.

Target Group
This course is aimed at existing instructor/trainer water rescue and lifeguard personnel who wish to undertake development to fulfill the role as an ASAP Jet Board operator instructor. The module builds on their operator skills and develops the skills required to effectively and safely teach operators to meet the requirements of the Jet Board craft operator standard.
Prerequisites
Existing in-date certificated Water or Flood Rescue Technician or Lifeguard Instructor or Trainer Assessor. ASAP Jet Board craft operator recognised in-date certificate. Are able to use technology appropriately to support learning. Appropriate First Aid (advanced). Working knowledge of appropriate water rescue scene management and dynamic assessment of risk at minimum level of Water & Flood Rescue Technician or suitable Life Saving/Guarding Award. Delegates are fit for full water rescue duties in accordance with their unit, agency, employer or authority requirements.
Minimum Delivery Hours
Minimum of eight hours.
Instructor Ratio
Qualified ASAP Water Rescue Jet Board Instructor Trainer and one instructor for six delegates.
Training Venue
The water selected shall be appropriate to assess all relevant skills with suitable and appropriate hydrology features, for all aspects of training to be conducted safely and effectively. A safety boat must be available and operated by competent rescue boat operators or the course instructors to provide both a safe system of work and facilitate the learning outcomes.
Assessment
Delegates on this course are assessed against the learning outcomes using practical observation and feedback and undergo testing of the underpinning knowledge about the Jet Board. The learner portfolio will detail performance against the learning outcomes and assessment criteria, successful learners will be accredited for delivering this Jet Board operator training. Successful completion of this course will result in the award of appropriate professional Development (CPD) hours.
Learning Outcomes
Demonstrates as required, skills to a high level within the Jet Board Operators course within the context of a water rescue scene and its management. After successful completion of the course, learners will be able to:
- Understand the use of an ASAP Water Rescue Jet Board and ancillary equipment
- Safely lead familiarisation.
- Demonstrate an understanding of safety procedures.
- Plan, facilitate and debrief practical sessions.
- Conduct end of course completion discussions.
Recertification
Recertification is required every three years. instructors/Trainers with this qualification who have maintained CPD need to complete a minimum of 4 hours with learning outcomes. Instructor and instructor ratio as detailed above.
